Partime Caregiver on Weekends in Cobourg

My friend lives on Abbott Blvd. He is in a wheel chair and is semi-incontinent. He can stand and walk a bit with a high walker. He has a full-time caregiver during the week and goes to adult daycare on Wednesdays and Fridays. PSWs come also in the afternoon weekdays and every night. I take care of him on the weekends. I live in Toronto and have come every weekend for two years now. I NEED A BREAK. So to start I would like someone to come every second weekend and every weekend in January and May but not the weekends of Christmas or New Years. This is flexible. Hours are also flexible and to be worked out but approximately the following. Saturdays from 3:00 to 6:00. Sundays from 9:00 to 12:00 and 3:00 to 6:00. Maybe more maybe less depending on how far you live from him and if he has visitors. He is a very nice gentleman, 68 years old, with a good sense of humour. He is quite quiet now but never used to be. Duties would be getting him out of bed, cleaning him, changing him, feeding and giving him his medications and keeping him company.

The caregiver should be passionate about what they do, should have a caring and compassionate nature. Our mom is 85 years old, disabled on wheelchair, and cannot walk. She speaks only Hindi but she understands English. She is non vegetarian. She lives on the main floor of the house with easy access to the kitchen, living room and has her own private washroom with disabled accessories. You don't have to lift her from bed. We are looking for a full time nanny to take care of my mom and live with us at our home in Port Hope, Ontario which is approx. 1 hr from Toronto. The duties would include everything from companionship to housekeeping, meal preparation, medication reminders, personal care and grooming assistance, helping her to exercise and taking her for walks. Job Type: Full-time Job Summary: The caregiver would live with us. The caregiver will provide various services, most of which would provide personal care and activities of daily living, including but not limited to housekeeping, meal preparation and companionship. The following are various tasks that may be required: Accompany my mom on short trips, doctor’s appointments as necessary; Assist my mom in all activities of daily self-care activities, including toileting, bathing, helping her take the shower, grooming, and linen changes; Prepare light meals for her breakfast, lunch and dinner appropriate to the her diet, assist with meal preparation and clean-up; Take her for a walk, assist her with exercises in a safe manner when required; and give a light massage to her legs.
