I am looking for private PSW care for my Mother. She currently has a PSW though Durham community care however the current timeline is insufficient for what she is in need of so this will be on top of this PSW whom we adore. She has recently been released from hospital and while I have been staying with her I have an upcoming surgery and will not be physically able to be there for her for a number of weeks. She is currently 70 and is requiring some light housekeeping, bathing should the current PSW not be able to on her visit, meal prep, possible drive to appointments so a license is a must. She does have a vehicle that could possibly be used for her caregiver. Currently has mobility aids with cane, walker and wheelchair as she is not able to walk far at the moment. (Wheelchair does fold but a vehicle that could fit this in truck is required) Must be comfortable assisting with medication, taking blood pressure and someone who has had previous heart attacks and stroke. Her mind is 100% functioning however having a hard time recovering from a 3 months hospital stay being totally on her own. This is available ASAP! Thank you.

We are in need of a compassionate and experienced full-time Live-In Senior Healthcare Worker ready to join our loving family home. We are looking for someone to assist our bedridden mother with Alzheimer's. Our dad lives with us as well, however, he is self-sufficient and enjoys good company. Your position will mainly be for 5 days a week, with expected hours ranging from 40 to 50 hours a week. The working schedule encompasses Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday, including mornings, middle of the day, evenings, and nights. The candidate is expected to have their own car as some tasks may require driving, and a driver's license is a must. You will have your own comfortable room complete with a private bathroom, as this is a live-in position. You will also be provided with room and board. Your duties in this role will involve supervising and directing an already existing team of Personal Support Workers (PSW) who are available for eight hours every day. You'll need to manage their schedule, direct them to perform tasks, or step in yourself when they are not available. Key responsibilities will include housekeeping, laundry, grocery shopping, preparing all meals, and ensuring that either you or the PSW assist in changing our mom, bathing her, brushing her teeth, and feeding her. Meal planning and preparation, along with keeping a check on groceries and supplies, are also part of the job role. You will also be required to ensure that medications are administrated as needed. To ensure our mother's safety and comfort, solid experience with a hoyer lift is required, and knowledge of Alzheimer/Dementia care would be an added asset. We ideally prefer a cheerful, energetic, and dedicated individual who is willing to step in dynamically based on the needs of the family. This position has an immediate start date. I would prefer a Filipino psw as it would be easier for her to communicate with them and possibly connect. Salary is negotiable between 15-$20 per hour. Parents are 80 and 82 and just downsized into an apartment across from Lakeridge Health Oshawa. My father fell and fractured his hip 8 weeks ago, he's been home for two weeks. He has a walker, wheelchair, bed rail, raised toilet, and an evening commode. My mother is dealing with confusion due to the stress of the fall and relocation. She's afraid of elevators so doesn't leave the apartment alone. My father has two PSW visits / issued by Home and Community Care but we've noticed that most days only one visit happens. He wears an adult diaper overnight which is conducted by current assigned gov't PSW. We're looking to hire someone to conduct two home visits / per approximately 1 hour each visit. That is negotiable based on assessment. Primary needs we have assessed: Both: Meal prep and clean up, retrieve newspaper from lobby, laundry (in the building), assist with the television (they're adjusting to a Smart TV), hair washing (mom) or bed bathing (dad), assist transfer from walker to couch. - he can do but sometimes the walker gets away from him. Mother: hair washing, tea, mostly social, maybe take her into the lobby sitting area for coffee. Basically, she's lonely and not eating. Father: walking up and down the hallway with walker, bed bathing. Ideally we need someone who can commit to a time to visit - the current random visits are very upsetting to my mom. Groceries are currently being handled but that could be an option. It's a lot of strain on the family so we're looking to offset that with some reliable support. My mother has high anxiety, and finds this new situation very upsetting. She basically needs someone to prepare food, cleanup after, wash her hair, and chat. She has a very sweet cat so perhaps assist there too.

Might require accompanying family on trips very occasionally.
