Seeking weekday afternoon coverage for a "big sister" teen sitter to mentor and hang out with our 12-year old neurodivergent daughter. Hours are somewhat flexible and additional occasional shifts are available subject to your availability. Start date is flexible.
Ideally, our sitters:
- really really love kids and treat them as friends
- have a lot of patience
- love talking about YouTube content, TikToks, Roblox, social justice issues, and bunnies, and are also tech-savvy enough to navigate using apps on Apple devices
- **are fluent in English, and gifted communicators**
- can help do snack or meal prep for/with our kiddo in my absence
- are great at taking initiative and finding ways to engage our daughter
- have a vehicle and can drive to our home
- are COVID-vaccinated and boostered, and taking every precaution for safety
Bonus points if you:
- believe in collaborative problem-solving and working together
- have lots of energy and a positive outlook
- are generally pretty calm and chill, and not easily phased
- are reliable and healthy, emotionally and physically
- are LGBTQIA+ allies
- take a kid-directed, relationship-based, and non-behaviourist approach to supporting kids in positive, respectful ways
It’s important for us to find the right match between our teen sitters and our sassy tween, and compensation is negotiable for the right sitters. Frequency of need for childcare coverage is once a week, but flexible/casual based on your availability. Shifts are around 4 hours in duration starting in the afternoon on a week day.
We will only contact those whom we are interested in interviewing.
