My name is Joy, and I am 20 years old. I am currently studying PSW, and my course will end on August 16th, 2023. I have experience taking care of children and the elderly. Back in the Philippines, I was part of a caretaker team at our church, where every Sunday, three others and I were responsible for caring for children aged 3 to 6 years old – around 10 to 15 children – while their parents attended the service. We made sure that the kids were entertained and changed diapers if needed. Additionally, my Auntie is an elementary teacher who teaches Grade 1. When my school finishes early, I often go to her classroom to help watch the kids during their break time. I was the primary caregiver of my grandma for almost 8 months when she was sick, with the last 4 months being especially challenging as she was weak. During that time, I made sure to give her showers, feed her, and accompany her almost every day. Though this experience happened in the Philippines, it helped me mature and learn a lot about how to deal with children of different attitudes and energies. I also had my practicum as part of school at Glen Hill Terrace in Whitby and Amica in Pickering. Currently, I am working part-time at Lakeridge Garden in Ajax, but this work is only part-time. I also work at MIGA Music School, where they have over 600 students, creating a busy environment. In this role, I help the other receptionist ensure that the students are safe and entertained while waiting for their parents to pick them up or attend their lessons. I am looking for 30 hours of work weekly, and I am flexible with my schedule. I live in Rossland and Riverside. Although I don't drive yet, I am proficient in taking transit, and my Auntie can drive me if necessary. I hold a valid work permit and am CPR certified. I can cook with recipes, clean house, and do laundry. I am a reliable and adaptable individual who does not complain and can follow instructions diligently.
