my name is Kaylene and I have just finished my second year at the University of Lethbridge studying public health! Although I am unsure of exactly what career I will end up in, I am interested in speech pathology. I am an outgoing, driven and responsible individual who has experience with young children and individuals with special needs. I am an outdoorsy individual, and my hobbies include cross-country skiing, snowboarding and hiking. I have experience as a full-time nanny, as well as supporting individuals with disabilities. I am currently taking summer courses and working casually with clients with disabilities. Although I am unable to work full time, I hope to grow my experience and create connections in the community part-time. I have a passion for engaging with children and hope to fill my free time doing what I love. I am certified as an Emergency Medical Responder through the Red Cross, so I am fairly confident in emergency scenarios. I grew up in a home where activity, crafting, literature and adventures were a vital part of my upbringing. I have a younger sibling with Down Syndrome who I grew up supporting, so I understand the importance of inclusion. Last summer I worked as a nanny for a family with three children. Our days consisted of swimming, biking, crafting and more. I have always grown up around dogs and love animals, so having pets in the home is incredibly rewarding! I am extremely aware of the importance of proper nutrition, and understand allergies and intolerances, as I myself have allergies to certain foods. Additionally, my public health courses have given me significant knowledge of the healthcare field which is helpful in a childcare job. I have my own vehicle, my driver's license, and have never been in accidents.

My summer break from university allowed me to nanny for a family of three children from May to September of 2022. The children’s ages ranged from two years old to eight. As a full-time worker, my days were filled with outdoor activities such as beach trips, biking, hiking, art, and so much more. I prepared meals, completed significant housework and cared for pets in home. Currently, I work for Lethbridge Family Services, supporting individuals with disabilities. Additionally, I grew up supporting my younger brother who has Down Syndrome, which gave me extensive experience working with vulnerable individuals.
