My background is primarily in outdoor education. I enjoy bringing children on hikes, teaching canoe skills, exploring in the forest, fields, or a waterfront area, and teaching about the natural world. I enjoy hiking on my own or with my partner as well. I can read, speak, and understand french well. I am an artist, and I have had paintings and drawings featured in exhibitions around Ontario. One of my pieces actually won an award in one of these shows. I enjoy cooking greatly, and I have experience cooking a variety of different cuisines from aorund the world, as well as vegetarian and vegan cooking.

I have worked for Tim Hortons camps as a Lead wilderness counselor, being the person primarily responsible for up to 12 teens on overnight backwoods wilderness trips, typically canoe trips, ranging from 1-7 days in length. I also had responsibility for the campers when at the camp, teaching skills ranging from canoeing and archery, to leadership skill building and the ins and outs of applying to college. I have worked for school boards in before and after school programs as well. There I was responsible for care and supervision of up to 15 school aged children in supporting their play, learning, and emotional regulation, while planning and implementing interesting play based experiences based in their interests. In this position I was also responsible for light cleaning and tidying, as well as making and providing balanced and nutritious snacks. I have worked in a daycare setting as well. Most of my experience in this setting is working with toddlers and preschoolers, though I do have some experience working with infants. Here I was responsible for supporting play, learning and self regulation, while maintaining good supervision, and creating weekly plans for learning experiences that follow the observed interests of the children in my care. I was additionally responsible in part for feeding, cleaning, changing of diapers and toileting, as well as helping the children to sleep. In this position I was also responsible for maintaining good communication with parents and supervisors about the children. As well, I have worked with children in schools, from kindergarten to grade 3, to assist in their acquisition of reading skills. I have also done some supply work as a supply for the ECE in kindergarten classrooms.
