Hello there, I am Sharmala, a experienced nanny with over 30-years in the field of childcare and early childhood in Sri Lanka and having lived in Canada since 1983, I have a rich multicultural heritage enriched my teaching and caring for children. Quite interestingly, my love for children, especially their eagerness to learn new things, comes my mother was a Montessori teacher trained by Dr. Montessori! Most of my professional experience was working in Yellowknife Montessori School between 1986 and 2000 and , providing care for vulnerable children in Tanzania between 2001 and 2024 under the auspices of Hope for the Future of January 2024, I am delighted to be back in Parksville, Canada and looking forward to continuing my passion for childcare. My core childcare competencies include, but are not limited to: cooking, doing light housekeeping, running errands, transporting children, helping with homework, and adhering to special dietary rules. I am also proficient in pet care and event planning. Additionally, my skills extend to caring for children with special needs and diverse age groups from newborns to early pre-teens. I am readily available to work full-time from the 14th of March, 2024. My flexible schedule allows me to work during the mornings, afternoons, evenings, and nights. I hold a Montessori Diploma, an ECE License, and I am proficient in both English and Swahili. I am a Canadian citizen, non-smoker, and a proud driver and vehicle owner available for travels as required. My preferred living arrangement is live-in, and I am capable of handling up to three children. I am also open to positions extending to housekeeping, tutoring, and home daycare duties.
