My love for children has led me to pursue my dreams to work with them everyday as an Early Childhood Educator. I have always loved teaching and seeing the spark in a child's eyes when they learn something new. These moments resonate deep within my soul that lets me know I chose the right field for myself.
I was babysitting by age 12, and was caring for 2 young boys with cerebral palsy at age 15. By working two jobs and going to Fleming College full time, I graduated and quickly started to supply to see where I would be the best fit in the daycare field. I found myself enjoying preschoolers and kindergarten the most. I also preferred to work with the special needs, I noticed there weren't enough people who had the patience or compassion to work with them. After planting myself in childcare I chose to rise to a new challenge and work full time with special needs. How rewarding! I still smile when I think of those children.
I am a mom of 2, Gabriel who is 12, and Victoria who is 8. I was very fortunate to be able to stay home with my children until they entered school. It was then that I returned to the childcare field. At this time I also found myself volunteering as a beaver leader in the Scouts Canada program and for the school's Breakfast Club. I continued to volunteer until 2019 when everything got shut down. I received many letters of commendation from Scouts Canada during my time with them.
