I am an international student pursuing a course in psychology at Trent University, with a long-term aspiration to establish myself as a child psychologist/counselor. At the age of 20, I embarked on my educational journey, hailing originally from England, UK. However, my residence shifted to Dubai, UAE when I was just 5 years old. Presently, I am situated in Peterborough, Canada.
Within the context of my family dynamics, I am a member of a sizable family, spread across the United Kingdom and Dubai. This family consists of two younger and two older siblings. My current Canadian residence accommodates not only my academic pursuits but also my camaraderie with five close friends, who, like me, are enrolled at Trent University. Additionally, my domestic environment is enriched by the presence of my two feline companions, Happy and Luna.
In terms of personal interests, my proclivities extend towards outdoor activities such as hiking and dog walking, reflecting my profound appreciation for the natural world and my comprehensive knowledge of botanical life. My leisurely engagements also encompass an avid consumption of television content, particularly documentaries. In my earlier years, I actively participated in school sports, including soccer, rugby, swimming, and netball. While I have maintained my affinity for swimming post-high school, my involvement in other sports has waned.
Further contributing to my holistic skill set, I possess certifications in first aid and CPR, in addition to specialized training in creating safe spaces. My commitment to professional development is underscored by my ongoing efforts to obtain a lifeguarding certification.
I have garnered substantial experience in engaging with children of varying age groups, a skillset cultivated during my tenure as the overseer of a Guiding Unit in Dubai from 2018 to 2021. This role provided me with invaluable insights into effective communication strategies tailored to both children and adults. Moreover, it afforded me the opportunity to refine my adeptness in resolving challenges while consistently upholding the welfare of all involved parties.
My enthusiastic commitment to this responsibility translated into the orchestration of regular gatherings, which I managed with great diligence and enthusiasm. These sessions entailed a blend of recreational activities and purposeful endeavors, fostering a collaborative environment where participants jointly pursued predetermined objectives. Notably, my steadfast dedication to continuity was evident as I successfully navigated the complexities posed by the Covid-19 pandemic, ensuring the uninterrupted continuation of these sessions.
In summary, my journey as an international student at Trent University reflects a multifaceted trajectory characterized by academic dedication, global mobility, diverse interests, and a resolute pursuit of personal and professional growth.
