I am a 27 year old young man living in Squamish. I have been here for three years, originally from a small town in Ontario and I have been working with kids the entire time in various positions, whether that has been as an education assistant, working one-on-one with various kids with multiple exceptionalities or working as a nanny; I've been with the current family I'm living with for a year and a half. I have worked in before and school aftercare programs with kids and families and in summer day camps with the YMCA back in Ontario. I take a trauma-informed approach and strengths-based approach with my kids and I am focused on their stages of their development with a desire to learn and connect with the them rather than condition and train them. I seek to create an atmosphere of love, acceptance, support, and joy with the children and the families I work with. I am very confident in my ability to connect with kids and families and support them emotionally, mentally, physically, and support families in whatever other ways they need me. In my current position I am supporting the family by helping them with child care of their now 3 year old son(started with him at age 2) and newborn, transportation, cooking, laundry, errands, cleaning of the house, and also pet care. So, it's not new to me and I'm very comfortable to take on any new work or any extra work that may be required of me. I am deeply passionate about the outdoors and imaginative play and I integrate that into my care as much as possible. I like to spend as much time as I can outside exploring the forests, parks, playgrounds, and just allowing the children to explore their natural world with my support and guidance alongside them. I am a firm believer in child-lead play where I seek to develop the child's own sense of confidence and ability within themselves. Although I live in Squamish, I am happy and open to relocating anywhere in Canada, if we are a good fit!
