Herons Nest Respite Guest House is hiring. Herons Nest is a guest house for special needs children and youth LOCATED ON GABRIOLA ISLAND. All our guests are referred by the Ministry of Children and Family. These are children who live with their natural families, and we support those families by providing regular, reliable respite. We cherish every guest and offer care in an atmosphere of welcoming hospitality. We are looking for a person who can fill the role of House Manager while providing some hours assisting with child and youth care. This position involves preparing the guesthouse for each specific guest and maintaining a well-organized environment to offer optimized care. The ideal candidate is. • a competent manager, • can work independently. • passionate about ensuring that the guesthouse is well organized. • passionate about ensuring high levels of cleanliness and hygiene. • with an attention to details that ensures a high standard of hospitality. • Can work in a fast-paced environment. • Can physically manage turning over three rooms twice a week We are looking for someone that is comfortable is supporting children with autism, global development delays, fetal alcohol syndrome, cerebral palsy, seizure disorders, Parkinson disease, mobility challenges, and so on. Every child that attends Herons Nest has their own specific care needs. The successful applicant must be comfortable supporting a wide range of behaviors and providing support for more basics care needs such as dressing, bathing, feeding and toileting children and youth of all ages.
