We are looking for part-time care to support our mother, who currently lives independently at a senior’s residence. Prior to covid, our mom was an active volunteer, health worker and community participant. She was diagnosed with dementia two years ago. This primarily impacts her short term memory, making the recall of new information sometimes challenging. She frequently asks the same question, which requires a patient listener. She is interested in the world, physically fit, full of beans and sociable. We want her to experience more fun and are looking for someone who can plan and participate engaging activities that feel meaningful for her. This might look like accompanying her on a dog walk, visiting new places, going swimming, volunteering in the community. Note: she has a dog and cat (both are well looked after). We are looking for someone to work 2-3 hours in the afternoon, once a week to start.
