PAB - Must be able to speak Italian : We are searching for a compassionate, Italian-speaking caregiver, a man in his 90s who is struggling with late-stage Alzheimer's Disease. The position is part-time and is strictly a live-out position. The person must be experienced in elderly care and comfortable dealing with mobility issues.
The main responsibility of the caregiver would be to assist my father in his daily routine from 11am to 3pm every Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. This would include helping with personal hygiene, meal planning and preparation with special consideration to making the food easy to swallow. Given his condition, he may need to be redirected at times as he tends to stray due to his Alzheimer's.
In addition to providing companionship, the caregiver would also be expected to perform light housekeeping duties such as laundry, cleaning the bathroom, vacuuming, and providing assistance with walking. The caregiver must be knowledgeable about dementia and Alzheimer’s care alongside having experience, or being comfortable working with elderly suffering from hearing impairment, diabetes, and incontinence (diapers).
The candidate will be giving his wife much-needed respite from her caregiving duties, so we expect utmost professionalism and dedication.
The caregiver must be available to start immediately, and although this is a part-time role, a commitment of less than 20 hours a week is expected.
