We are looking for Wednesday and Friday care for my 65 year old father who lives with Parkinson’s disease. This is a part time job that could move to more hours if you are an excellent fit. You must be able to work in Canada and have a valid drivers license.
Duties include:
- take him to weekly appointments
- encouraging movement/mobility during “off” times
- ensuring daily exercises are completed
- ensuring medication is taken every 2 hours
- drive him to visit family
- take him to boxing classes
- running errands and going to appointments
- meal prep
- housekeeping tasks such as cleaning and laundry
- completing short summary reports at the end of shift to identify important information (missed meds, falls, unusual behavior, etc.)
About my dad:
Energetic
Funny
Musical
Outdoorsy
Active
He likes to exercise, dance, play guitar!
Ideal candidate is fun, professional, and patient. You would be a self starter who is good as a companion and care aid.
A little backstory on my dad: he is a very young 64 year old who likes to laugh and joke around. Up until about 13 years ago, he would do the ride to conquer cancer every year (this is a bike ride from langley to Seattle!). He loves to play the guitar and listen to music. Music and dancing help him during his off periods. He’s an outdoorsman at heart who used to love biking, fishing and camping.
