My name is Teresa. I came to Canada in 1999 as a live in caregiver with one employer who send me to school to do PSW course. I worked as a PSW from 2002 till 2011. I decided to go back to school and became a Registered Practical Nurse in 2010. I am working at Leisureworld Caregiving Centre as a nurse assigned with various types of behaviour issues including Alzhiemer's Disease and Dementia. I love working with the elderly. It is a rewarding job to know that you make a difference in their lives. Assist residents in grooming, toiletting and feeding. Provide bedbath/shower. Assist PSW's in transferring residents from bed to wheelchair or vice versa. Administer medications in various routes, catheter care, wound care, ostomy care and dressing. Monitoring vital signs, blood sugar, health condition changes. Efficiently use proper body mechanics when doing transfers and practice personal safety.
