I started my love for health care and for the elderly while I was a child. I was eleven when I started caring for my terminally ill grandfather--including giving him his medication and operating his at home oxygen--when my grandmother had to go out. I started working for Para-med Health Services in Ontario at age 17, providing home care for the elderly and infirm. I would do household chores, cook meals, do personal care as well as change dressings and keep detailed records. I worked for Para-Med for 4-5 years. In 2000 I moved to Alberta. I graduated as a Licensed Practical Nurse a few years later. While I was in school I again worked in home care, but this time I also was responsible for tasks such as cleaning trach tubes, giving medication and treating wounds due to my training. I worked as an LPN in Fort McLeod at a care home and I truly enjoyed my work in that role, until my back was injured and I had to take some time to heal. I have worked a few different jobs since then, strengthening my muscles and honing my exercises and stretches to the point that I really desire to come back to, and truly believe that I am capable of performing the tasks incumbent with this position. Health care and the elderly have been a true source of joy in my professional life and I have always striven to be a source of joy to those that I have worked with. I am a compassionate person with a keen understanding of loss of independence due to aging, accidents and/or medical conditions or disease. I love to hear personal stories or matters of interest that my clients convey. It is very important to me that my clients feel heard and comfortable in every aspect of the care that they are receiving.

I have performed housekeeping duties in child care situations, elderly care situations, I have had private housekeeping jobs and I have been a homemaker for my own family over the span of years that it takes to raise four children. I have also trained as an LPN, which involves extensive education on clean practice and "germ control".
