I started babysitting 2 kids at the age of 12. From there, I continued to baby sit them while taking care of 2 other children full time. I obtained my first nannying job at 17. I worked for that family for almost a year until the mother went on maternity leave. I then moved to Alberta where I worked full time in the hotel industry but continued to provide child care on a part time, on call basis. I believe that the most important thing when it comes to an "outsider" coming into the home is consistency. The baby sitter or nanny needs to mirror what the parents style of parenting is. Most parents have set guidelines as far as what they want their provider to do and I believe it is very important to follow them.
