Hi there, I have been working with children of all ages for over seven years blessed with a variety of: Ethnic/ cultural backgrounds Physical, mental and emotional diversity. Parents and family/friend members of various genders, sexual orientations and spiritual practice. Outside of organized programs, day-cares, schools and summer camps I have extensive babysitting background. My educational history includes science, social science, sociology and women's studies. I have travelled and lived across much of the maritimes attending UNB, Acadia, Dalhousie University, Saint Mary's University and Beijing Normal University in Zhuhai China. Work Experience Nanny March 2014- Present Provided child-care for various families with children of four months to twelve years in age. Duties include preparing and cooking meals, providing a clean and safe environment, running errands, taking the children to their extracurricular activities, as well as being responsible for the family pets. Cared for children of various emotional, physical and mental disabilities, gaining a wide range of experience and patience. Currently, I am providing child-care for a mother with multiple sclerosis. Military Family Resource Centre July 2013- August 2013 Constructed and organized activities for a group of children between five to twelve years in age. Responsibilities ranged from facilitating the group, to ensuring children were interested, involved, and engaged in the wide variety of themes and activities. Children were from a variety of ethnic, cultural, income and behavioural backgrounds. This nonprofit childcare centre mainly provides childcare needs for families who are of minority status; some whom are at risk of homelessness due to their social position. The cultural diversity present within this environment taught me to be mindful of each child's unique expectations while in my care and to be co-operative with their specific needs. YMCA: YPHD Program September 2012-December 2012 Managed lunch and after-school programs for children ages from 5-12. The majority of the children who took part in this program were experiencing various emotional and/or physical barriers due to their families social position i. e at risk for homelessness, undernourished, etc. This position further developed my compassion and therapeutic abilities. Volunteer Shambhala Centre September 2016 - Present Volunteer Cook for Wednesday's social and meditation classes. Support our Troops 2007-2009 Worked alongside my mother who founded the support group for military families. This support group was created when my father served 9 months in Afghanistan. This opportunity showed me at a very early age, the obstacles that can present themselves with volunteer management.
