I have an honours certificate from the Personal Support Worker program at George Brown College. I believe that I am suited to work at your agency because I am dedicated to promoting client dignity, independence, comfort and safety, I have always been dedicated to providing the upmost level of patient care, and I have excellent interpersonal communication skills. I have a lot of experience in working with elderly people from a young age, as my grandmother lived in my home and I helped care for her as a teenager before she passed away. I volunteered on a geriatric ward in Roscommon General Hospital in Ireland and I was a live-in caregiver to an elderly woman for a substantial amount of time before I came back to Canada in 2011 (I was born in Toronto and grew up in Ireland). I completed 30 days of clinical placement at George Brown College, and have an excellent performance and attendance record. I also have worked as a live-out caregiver for an elderly woman in Toronto, on successfully completing my course. I have consistently demonstrated the ability to work independently and as a contributing member of the health care team. I absolutely adore working with patients and enabling them to have a better quality of life. One day I would like to be a Registered Nurse, but right now I would like to grow further in this career and learn more. I am a hard-working, professional, empathetic, and caring individual. As I mentioned before I was employed for looking after two young children(five and seven when I began) for over a year in Toronto. My job responsibilities included taking them to and from school, preparing lunches/dinners, light housekeeping, engaging inn fun activities with them(outdoor activities, arts and crafts), helping them with homework etc. I also spent most of my teenage years doing the same tasks for my younger brother and sister, as both of my parents worked full time. I also have many years experience in babysitting at night, for toddlers and older children. The parents of these children were always at ease knowing their children were in safe hands with me.
