My name is Sarah and I moved to Vancouver in 2012 from Winnipeg, Manitoba and began nannying in August of that year after a short respite position. I am very organized and responsible, and have always loved kids and have a passion for helping others. I consider myself a patient and caring person who is very empathic. I work hard, but I love music and singing and am currently singing in the Vivaldi Chamber Choir. I also love to travel, especially home to Winnipeg to see my friends and family when I can. I aim to look at life from a positive perspective no matter what the situation and pride myself in my ability to make meaningful connections with people. I spent part of my university practicum working in a school setting in the special needs/resource program, as well as spent four months working with my church youth group for the remainder of my practicum. I absolutely loved the work I did for two and a half years working with adults with disabilities in residential and day services in Winnipeg, and over the last 10 years I have grown into a confident nanny, house manager, and cook!

I have been nannying in Vancouver after moving from Winnipeg in 2012! For the last ten years I have nannied, part-time, for a wonderful Vancouver family, and full-time for eight of those years for another lovely Vancouver family. I have experience taking the children to school, picking them up, taking them to activities (by transit and by driving), making dinners for the whole family, making lunches for the kids, helping the children with homework, and keeping up with tidying and laundry. I do weekly grocery shopping and errand running, and have taken care of the family dog since she was a puppy with my full time family. I adore children and all they have to teach us and believe in encouragement and understanding.

I graduated from Canadian Mennonite University in Winnipeg, MB in 2011 with a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in music and minors in psychology and biblical & theological studies. I spent 3 months of my practicum working with the youth group at my church in Winnipeg, and the next 3 months of my practicum working at Bruce Middle School with the special needs/resource program. For over two years I also worked for EPIC Opportunities supporting adults with disabilites in both residential and day services. While there I took trainings in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, Positive Behaviour Supports, Workplace Health and Safety, Job Coaching, Orientation to Protect, Vulnerable Persons Act, & On-Call Duties, as well as completed a 10-week course, Foundations in Disability and Community Supports, at Red River College in Winnipeg.
