Hey. I am Sophia, a Toronto based artist, daughter, sister, and labour Doula. I grew up in the city in a family of six kids. I am the second eldest, and have always grown up taking care of my siblings and the children in my neighbourhoods. I have always enjoyed creating warm and safe environments for little ones to play in. By profession, I am a flamenco dancer who runs her own dance collective and creates performance art all over the city. I also love teaching dance to kids, and have experience teaching ages 6 through 60. I love singing and art making with children. I am always on time, organized and enthusiastic. I always treat tricky situations with patience and understanding. Because I am still very young, I have tons of energy and willingness to play with the kids and really have a good time, while at the same time being responsible, mature and reliable. I am just leaving a nannying job of taking care of two children (they outgrew needing me), and a dancer for two companies. I am looking for full time work as a nanny to enrich my life with the presence of little ones. Thanks for your consideration.

My first childcare experience was taking care of my younger siblings when my parents were away, and quickly branched out into neighbourhood families for after school care. I would walk them home from our elementary school and do activities (such as crafts, baking, skits etc) until their parents returned home. These kids ranged from ages 2-9, and two of them had Down Syndrome). While I was in high school I took care of two girls after school as well. During the summers I worked at Art Camps ad the Canadian Opera Company, facilitating theatre and dance classes with the kids. Since being out of school and working full time, I take up the odd babysitting job with my one year old cousin, twins who live down the street, the girls I used to take care of in elementary school, and of course, my seven year old sister.

I graduated high school with Honours in 2012, and completed my Doula certification in February (part time), and hopefully will be attending Ryerson for Midwifery in 2016-2017.
