I am a UK qualified teacher with a postgraduate diploma in counselling children and young people. I have worked in education (either as an assistant, or as a teacher), for 8 years and have taught children from 4 to 12 years of age. I moved to Canada in January 2015 after marrying a Canadian, and have recently been approved for permanent residency (July 2015). I love working with children and seeing them learn through having fun. I have worked with special needs children; ADD/ADHD/ODD/ASD and enjoy finding ways to help them reach their potential. Through my church I have been 1:1 with a girl who has autism, and it was such a joy to work with her and be a part of the routine that helped her to enjoy attending each week. My hobbies include reading (particularly children's books), writing, playing the piano (I am self-taught), travel and Star Wars. I love sharing picture books with children - I think you can never be too old to enjoy a children's picture book, especially if it is by Emily Gravett or Julia Donaldson. Please feel free to contact me if you are a potential employer with any questions, I am happy to answer them.

I am a qualified teacher, with six years teaching experience. Four of these were in the UK and two were in Abu Dhabi. I am also aunt to 12 nieces and nephews. I have babysat my nieces and nephews from birth whenever their parents needed a break, including having them for long weekends on several occasions. I love seeing children use their imaginations, and playing games with them at their level. My nieces and nephews enjoy a variety of games/activities; kicking a ball around, Lego, dolls, playing at the park, hide and seek, painting/drawing, messy art etc. I have also mod-rocked their hands on one occasion (they were my test cases before doing this with a class of 30 children. ) While I am happy to help out with some household chores that are linked to childcare (cleaning up after activities etc), I would prefer that these duties be minimal, as my primary focus will be the care and development of your child/children. Additional Experiences/Qualifications: I am willing to travel with the family during normal working hours (e. g. If extra help or support is needed on a day out with your child/children and some of their friends). Please note, I volunteered at a school in Calgary from March to June 2015, and can supply reference details on request. I am also available for tutoring during the hours listed. Elementary through Middle School aged children, $25-50 an hour depending on requirements (age, single pupil/small group tutoring, English as a Second Language, special needs etc). Feel free to contact me if you have questions.
