Hi. My name is Shannon and I am 25 years old. I grew up in central Alberta with three younger brothers. From a young age I was the one responsible for caring for the brothers while the parents were working. Since then I have worked as a swim instructor, swim coach, camp counselor, maternity nurse, orthopedic nurse and most recently as a kayak guide and nature guide. I am extremely comfortable spending time with children, I am a big kid myself so I like to have fun and connect on their level. I am an active person and love the outdoors; I like to hike, camp, surf, swim, bike, and generally just have fun in the outdoors. I also like to spend time crafting and colouring from time to time. I love to learn and I love to teach. I am a very patient person, friendly, outgoing, creative, organized and flexible. I am also a whale whisperer, a cookie scientist, a great story teller and have been known to tell a pirate joke or two. I have recently returned from traveling and I have to say that the travel bug has gotten me. I am looking for a fun summer job before I head off on my next travels in the fall.

Work experience with ages 2-17: -I taught swimming lessons and coached swim club for many years from 2006-2009 -I worked with groups of children 1-8 in size and provided a fun and safe enviroment -My lessons revolved around games with aims (it was so much fun they didn't know they were learning. ) Work experience with ages 6-17 in an outdoor setting: -Summer camp summer 2009 and volunteered summer 2010 -Provide a positive, safe, comfortable and exciting environment for children to have fun, develop, socialize and become comfortable in the outdoors -This is when I began on my path to expert story teller -Created activities for our group free time while in camp as well as on out trip Work experience with newborns -I worked maternity as an undergraduate nurse in 2010 -Became very comfortable changing diapers, recognizing cries, feeding, cuddling

I have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing Basic Care Life Support and Level C CPR Health Care Provider Standard first aid
