I have devoted over 15 years working with and aiding people of all ages with physical and mental disabilities in a respite care, employment and volunteer environment. I recently went back to college to obtain my Personal Support Worker certification. I completed my preceptorship with Home Instead, an amazing company where I was hired to work for even before I finished my 200 hours of community care. I would like to be open about the fact that I take all precautions necessary when working with my clients and their families. Mask and goggles (if necessary). I choose not be vaccinated at this time. I am an individual with companionship and conversation skills, grooming, bathing and a specialty in Alzheimers care. Prior to the pandemic, I lived-in with my client who had Alzheimers. I provided full-time support as a caregiver and companion; a fulfilling opportunity that offered me hands-on insight into many behaviours and coping mechanisms related to Alzheimers. I have obtained certification in several departments of Alternative Health Care, including Gerontology, Musical Therapy and Sound Healing to enhance fundamental life-skills for personal elevation, as well, to raise the bar of superior care and compassion for those I work with and work for. I have managed full household responsibilities; pet care included. I enjoyed cooking healthy meals from scratch; catering to dietary needs such as diabetic, or vegetarian and vegan. I confidently drove clients to their medical and other appointments, as well, I had confidence chauffeuring my clients to family events and activities and being a companion for the day. I have an engaging personality and I am known for encouraging clients in: gardening and fitness, social commitments, recreational and educational activities. I possess the fine-tuned experience allowing me to have genuine relations with people in all walks of life. I also possess a calm demeanor when the timing is appropriate and have a grace in helping my clients and their families in a palliative care environment. I am open to obtaining further certifications and would be happy to enroll in extra training or educational programs if so required.

My well-being and fulfillment come from my part-time work in respite care. My outings, with individuals with a range of disabilities, are geared to help with social anxieties and help grow my client’s personal development. We cook healthy meals together, work on resumes, therapeutic swimming, explore Toronto, visit festivals, take dance classes and develop our photography skills together – to name a few excursions. There are no limits, only barriers we figure out how to get through together.
