As a first generation Canadian, I was raised with traditional East Indian values. However, as a child raised in North America, I am also familiar to all things Canadian. English is my first language. I am currently a Bachelor of Arts student majoring in English literature. I come from a very large family where most of my siblings and cousins have children. I very much enjoy children especially anywhere from newborn to 5 years of age; however, older children allow me to use my English skills when helping them with homework or just basic advice. I love to read which allows me to help grade school children with their learning needs for school; my goal is to eventually teach English as a second language. I enjoy summer so I like to be outdoors when the weather is warm, especially easy hikes in the mountains. I am a reasonably good cook and I do receive lots of compliments on my cooking. As a hobby, I like to try out different recipes and cooking techniques. I have some professional experience as I was working with another family a few days a week. I have taken care of children from newborn to 10 years old. I have also babysat for friends and family extensively. As a university student, I have experience helping with grade school homework and with English speaking for younger children. I have my first aid certificate which allows me the skills to provide a safe environment for children and adults alike.
