Hi. My name is Holly. I am 27 and have a BA in drama from the University of Lethbridge. While studying at the University my focus was mainly on the design of sets and props, with an interest in costume design. I enjoy drama because it allows me to express myself creatively through various mediums. Consequently, I now have a massive craft collection filled with paints, crayons, fabrics, strings, etc. that I would love to share. I now live in Nelson. My hobbies include macramé, knitting, hiking, skiing, biking and hula hooping. I have also taught skiing at a local ski resort where my parents have a cabin, did volleyball and track and field in high school, and worked at several different summer camps over a course of 5 years. I love to be busy and think it is really important to have a healthy and active lifestyle.

I do not have any formal training in childcare but I believe the skills and knowledge I gained while working at summer camps aid in my competency when providing care for children. For example Camp Health, Hope, and Happiness provides a 6-day residential camp for children and adults with physical and mental disabilities. The level of care I provided consisted of engaging and participating with campers in a variety of activities – swimming, climbing wall, arts and craft etc., to aiding them in general everyday tasks such as eating, drinking, dressing. In a setting such as camp with a constant changing environment, I learned great leadership skills and resourcefulness. In addition, I also took a course in University, called Education 2500, where I did a placement in a Kindergarten class. I created several lesson plans where I taught numbers, letters and a few gym classes.
