I am a young ambitious professional transitioning out of the corporate world and looking for part-time work to cover my expenses while I work on my part-time business over the next few years. I have extensive child-care experience having been the neighborhood go-to babysitter from age 12-19. I have also been tutoring a 10 year old boy for the last two years on a weekly basis from which I can provide a reference. I am also very involved in the Ottawa community, I have a lot of volunteer experience. I have been a camp councilor at horse-back riding camps in Ottawa and Plantagenet, I have done ESL tutoring with refugee women, and participated in a variety of fundraising events. In 2013 I traveled to Guatemala to build an Eco School and help teach children in the rural community English. I am currently on the board of directors for Interval House of Ottawa - a home for women and children escaping abusive relationships. As a result I have a police records check to work with the vulnerable sector as well as a criminal records check for my board position. Should these expire I would be happy to obtain a new one. I also have reliability status with the government from my most recent corporate position. I truly believe that participating in engaging activities is key for children of all ages. I am a huge fan of crafts, board games, playing outdoors, and reading. I think this is important in developing a good relationship with the kids you work with, and is enriching to their lives. In this new digital age not enough time is spent on developing creativity and good old fashioned play time. I grew up in a house where TV and computer was limited and so I developed a deep love for literature and the outdoors. I am also very happy to help with any homework the kids may have. I am a dedicated aunt, sister, and truly enjoy spending time with kids of all ages. In my spare time I like to discover new restaurants, drink different herbal teas, read, do yoga, and take classes.

As mentioned I was always the go-to babysitter in the neighborhood. I have babysat children of all ages for many years and would be happy to provide references. Prior to babysitting I did take a first aid course, however this was many years ago and I would be happy to do a renewal with the City of Ottawa. I have also been a camp councilor working with children at different horse-back riding camps in and around the City of Ottawa. Most recently I have been tutoring a 10 year old boy for the past two years on a weekly basis. I also often provide childcare for this family, and they often drop off the 10 year old along with a few of his cousins (maximum 5 kids total). The kids range in age from two and a half to eleven and we have tons of fun playing games or doing outdoor activities. Additional Experiences/Qualifications: My salary is flexible dependent on the duties, number of children, number of hours etc. I am willing to negotiate what works for the family as well as myself.
