My name is Riley , I am of Scottish and Italian decent. I come from a middle class family as the only child, which pretty much means I have been independent all my life. I am currently classified as single, and have no child.
I grew up my entire life with a true love of sports. I played provincial level fast pitch for nearly 15 years, was offered to play professional level in New Zealand. A few of my hobbies include: horsebackriding, hiking, reading, sporting events, traveling.
A little about my professional background. I graduated in 2016 from Humber College in the Child and Youth Worker program. My experience is of wide variety as I worked in two separate private schools with ASD clientele, one school was ASD and related diagnosis specific and the other private school was. Christian Academy. I then moved to Peel Children's Aid Society where I worked in residential group homes with teens with dual-diagnosis, drug dependency, mental health and youth justice involvement. I also worked in a separate home with all ASD clientele, some dual diagnosis of schizophrenia and ASD.
Now I am my current experience I work in Kitchener for another residential group home working with teen girls 15-18 with complex needs, dual diagnosis, drug dependency and family matters.
I have CPI and UMAB training, I have training in DIR/Floortime and some training in ABA therapy. I am a very creative individual and use that to my advantage when working with children and youth. Whether I am simply doing an art project or creating DIY projects, I love to use my imagination and have fun all the time.
I believe in teach kids life skills and letting them be independent. We all learn at our own speed but that doesn't mean no one should not be taught specific skills.
If you have any further questions please feel free to contact me.
Thank you.
Riley
