Childcare style My childcare style is based on child-centered play where children learn and develop through self-directed play as well as direction and attention from me. I combine following the child's lead as well as creating fun learning activities.
Self-description I enjoy connecting with children through arts and crafts, imagining, learning sports, exploring the outdoors, and reading books. It is fun for me to discover how each child expresses themselves. I have worked and volunteered with children as a teacher, a nanny, a tutor, and babysitter and I truly enjoy being in their presence providing care, attention, and encouragement. Briefly describe your work experience
I began working with preschool-aged children at a Weekly Early Education Center in Santa Fe, New Mexico. In high school I spent 5 years after school and during summers providing care and guiding play, snack, reading, nap, and social activities. In university was a teaching and research assistant at the on-campus pre-school. Post-University I worked with K-1 special needs students in the mornings and as an assistant for a psychologist where my duties included caring for his twin 6-year-old daughters and 8 year old daughter for 2 years. In the past 3 years I have cared for five families' preschool-aged children on a regular basis (ages 10 months-4 years), averaging 1-3 children at a time. We enjoyed creative play, outdoor excursions, arts and crafts, and snack and story times.

I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and took the full range of child development classes offered in my program including practicums at the on-campus preschool. I was able to interact with master's level teachers as well as leading researchers on child development. Most recently I graduated with a degree in Fine Arts and have loved crafting and creating with children.
