I have been a nanny for over 15 years and have a BA in Linguistics and Anthropology as well as a BFA in Contemporary Dance from SFU. I have taught creative movement at Arts Umbrella and Artspace and have been creating dance work for performance in Vancouver. I value the natural world and enjoy going for walks and adventures outdoors. I have always loved working with children because I relate well to their sense of play and joy for life. I am active and will join a child in play on the floor or at the playground as well as encouraging self-directed activity. I am interested in child development and behaviour and enjoy figuring out the most effective and compassionate way of guiding individual children toward goals. I believe in logical consequences and routine in order to allow the child to feel comfortable and to easily learn expectations. I usually form a comfortable bond with kids based on mutual respect, clear boundaries and play. I have had my driver's license for over 18 years and have a clean driving abstract. I have had three clean criminal record checks in the last year and have my updated Child Emergency First Aid.

I have worked for many families and cared for children in many situations in the past 14 years. I have cared for children after-school, taught and supervised children in camps and learning environments, done part-time and full time infant and toddler care and cared for adults with physical disabilities. I am capable of managing children and basic household duties including laundry, shopping and cooking as well as encouraging outdoor play and social engagements. Additional Experiences/Qualifications: I have worked as a mother's helper and a sole charge caregiver. I enjoy open communication about the child's development and needs. I respect the needs and methods of the household but also find it important to be able to influence the discipline and guidance of children.
