| Hello there! I was brought up in a household that focused on the importance of family, making me a very family oriented person. I am now a student, studying at the University of Victoria to obtain a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. I love children and have a passion for helping people, making teaching a perfect career for me. I enjoy volunteering; I spent two weeks last summer in Kenya and now want to go back and teach there once I have my degree. I am hard working and always open to learn new skills. I spent a summer working at a daycare, which was also ran a summer camp program. The children at the daycare were ages six to twelve. At the daycare we would plan numerous outings and activities for the children. I led many crafts, games and adventures. It was my responsibility to make sure the children were safe and having fun. I was also a part of the summer camp program. In terms of my responsibilities there I was a part of a team of facilitators. We'd plan the themed camps, ranging from a science themed camp to an adventure to water park. I would help in the set-up, the running and the clean-up of these camps. Each camp was for different age groups; some for toddlers to six year old's and some for school aged children. Every camp was a new learning experience.
My other childcare experience comes from my work with private families. I have taken care of various aged children. I have taken care of twins, families with up to five children and families with children of all different ages. |
