Hi, I was born in Jamaica and have lived in Canada from I was 9years old. I love to read different genres of literature. I love all types of movies but prefer black and white. I crochet blankets and enjoy needlepoint. I bike and play baseball when time permits. I enjoy cooking and trying different ethnic foods.

I started working with children within my own family. I helped raise my cousins while my aunt was in school and working. Part of my responsibility was picking them up from school, making them a dinner, making sure they went to bed on time, and ensuring they are ready for school the next day. In addition, I have 15 years of professional experience. While living in the US, at the age of 16, in 1998, I cared for two boys (9mths and 2yrs) for consecutive two summers. While living in Canada, one of my responsibilities was to make sure my sister went to kindergarten and picked her up at 11am, taking care of her until her mother returned in the afternoon. Through the coming years until January 2013, I worked short term positions with families. I also created and lead a program at my local church called “Spouse Date Night” to help support marriages. I was responsible for planning the activities, recruiting helpers, and purchases. I managed a team of teenagers and adults to supervise children 0-11 yrs, while their parents enjoyed time together at the low cost of $2. 00 a night. There would be 15-30 kids in attendance. Subsequently, I was given the opportunity to join the Early Childhood Education (ECE) program at Conestoga College where I was able to successfully graduate April of 2014: •I plan and implement activities and curriculum based on the understanding of child development, interests, and capabilities. •I utilize a variety of observation techniques to enhance work with children and families •I maintain responsive relationships with individual children and groups of children. •Establish and maintain safe and healthy environments •Develop and maintain effective written, oral, nonverbal, and electronic communications with children and families •Apply a personal philosophy of early childhood education within the framework of ethical and professional standards. •Act in a manner consistent with principles of fairness, equity, and diversity to support the development and learning of individual children, within the context of their family, culture, and society.
