I am super enthusiastic and love working with children. I love being outdoors, playing board games, and making crafts. I am part way through a nursing degree, and am currently working for Behaviour Innovations, a private agency that provides ABA services to children and their families. I also volunteer with the Strong Start to Reading program in Brantford.
In the summer of 2017, I worked as a nanny for a child with Spinal Muscular Atrophy with Respiratory Distress (SMARD). Alongside the child’s primary caregivers, I bathed, fed, and provided medical care for the child. My secondary duties included preparing the child’s feed, putting away medical supplies, doing the dishes, completing the child’s laundry and other light housework. I learned how to communicate with this nonverbal child and anticipate his needs. We read together, went swimming, and even planned a Christmas party in July for his mom.
