Hi, My name is Heather and I was born in Vancouver and moved to New Zealand with my family when I was 6, where I lived for 6 years. After returning, I spent the next 30 odd years in the Surrey area, I now reside in South Langley. I am a baker/caterer by previous trade and an Early Childhhood Educator by recent trade. I spent 20 years in the food industry. I started working in a bakery out of school and eventually went to Vancouver Community College to get my baking certificate. I spent several years in the baking industry before finding a position at a catering company in South Surrey, where I spent 14 years as a pastry chef and caterer. I also sub contacted Wedding Cakes under my own business name "Cake Creations". I loved working with quality foods, but eventually felt I needed a change so I went back to school to get my ECE certificate. I am currently a p/t morning preschool teacher in Langley; Worked 2 years as a preschool teacher in South Surrey for two years, Kidsworld Learning Centre in Langley for a year and Wise Owl Montessori previous to that. I Love working with children and believe children learn best at an early age through play and that we as educators can teach best by being there to add and assist to the experience. I am a very creative, resourceful and adaptable person with a good sense of humour, and a reliable and hard-working employee. My hobbies include, yoga, baking (of course), reading, making natural skin products, art, environmental issues and animal rights. Well, that's me in a very small nutshell. I received my Early Childhood Eduacator certificate in November 2009. My work experience includes 6 months at Wise Owl Montessori teaching a group of six to eight, 4 - 5 year olds. I then moved on to at Kidsworld for 11 months where I worked in the summer program with the Out of School children for 5 weeks and then in the 3-5 year old classrooms for the remainder of my time. I currently work at a preschool in White Rock as a teacher with a group of 12 children aged 2 1/2 - 5. My duties there include planning and running a 1/2 hour theme circle, teaching phonics, assisting with crafts and overseeing the children during play times. My volunteer experience consists of several months at the Semaihmoo Family place for as a child-minder; the Tong Louie YMCA as a daycare assistant and working with Traslink at employee functions setting up crafts, activities and face painting for the children attending.

I have a current ECE certificate as well as well as attending and receiving certificates from various workshops on childcare.
