Chef/Nanny

JB
Active:

Chef/Nanny (with possible Housekeeping and Home Organization responsibilities) (4 month position : October 2015 – February 2016) We are a family of 5 (kids ages 9, 8, 6 in October 2015). We are looking for a cook / part-time nanny starting in early to mid-October 2015. We live in midtown Toronto just blocks from the Yonge subway line. We are looking for an enthusiastic person to prepare family dinners, meet the kids at the school bus, settle them into homework and piano, and help manage our home. We are a vegetarian family (we eat fish and dairy) and are looking for someone who loves to cook, can cook healthy/low-salt meals and will pack lunches for the family. Other tasks could include laundry/ironing and keeping the home tidy and organized. The candidate should be one who loves children, be able to come and help when kids are off from school, pick-up and supervise kids after school and be able to take (drive if necessary) children to some activities. We are a low-key and down to earth family who happen to have two parents with demanding jobs, who want to maximize the time they spend with their children. We are a fun-loving, joyful, and forgiving family who are practicing Catholics. The candidate will have experience with healthy and vegetarian cooking, have a great passion for cooking, be a self-starter able to work with minimal direction, and be a prudent grocery shopper. The candidate will be able to do full meal preparation, setting, and clean up. The candidate should have excellent communication skills, a strong work ethic, and be able to anticipate the needs of the family. The candidate would ideally have a driver’s license and an excellent driving record. The family would provide the family car for use in transporting the kids to activities. We imagine the position being about 25 hours a week, but could be up to 35 hours a week if the candidate is also a house cleaner. The candidate would work primarily in the afternoon (staying until dishes are done and lunches are packed). We would both offer and expect flexibility in working hours. The candidate would receive competitive compensation with paid holiday (taken in conjunction with family travels) and receive all paid statutory holidays. (The family typically travels over the Christmas holidays). The rate would depend on experience and qualifications. We offer flexibility in the exact hours worked, and would expect flexibility from the candidate in the hours they worked. The family occasionally travels on long weekends and at other times, and so the candidate would have other blocks of time away from the job, and would either work longer hours on some days or work some days when the family was away. Please respond to this ad if this is a position that matches your interests and qualifications.
