Looking for a mature caregiver for our elderly parents ages 85 & 87 who live in McKenzie Lake, Calgary, Alberta. Chinese is their first language but they have lived in Canada for over 60 years and speak English. We are looking for a caregiver to Live-In on the weekends (ideally Friday 5:00 pm to Sunday, 5:00 pm) and maybe part time live-out hours during the week, gradually moving to more full time hours. Ability to work flexible hours during the live-in weekend is essential. Mom and Dad are diabetic managed by medications, diet and exercise. Mom has poor eyesight and early onset dementia, but is always cheerful and easy going. They both have mobility issues and use a 4 wheeled walker. They need help with stretching and exercises, bathing, massage and foot care. Mom will also require overnight assistance for night time bathroom trips so hours will be flexible. You will be responsible for administering medication, meal preparation, preparing shopping lists, companionship, housekeeping, laundry and assistance when going to medical/health related appointments. A Live-In caregiver is required and preference will be given to candidates with nursing and/or caregiver certifications along with recent or up to date first aid training, driver’s license (or willingness to drive), available for night time attendance as needed and experience in cooking Asian meals. Minimum experience of 2 years in a similar position.
