Nanny / Housekeeper

This position will work mainly Monday to Friday with occasional weekend and evening work as required. The Nanny/Housekeeper’s primary objective is to be of service in providing: quality child care, housekeeping, maintenance, food preparation and social event assistance. The ideal candidate is resourceful, positive, caring, playful and thorough. The position will require looking after two children for 3-4 days per week and cleaning the residences for 1-2 days per week. The candidate must be comfortable working in the house while the client is present as well as working alone unsupervised. The candidate must be comfortable with pets as pet care may be required from time to time. The candidate must have a vehicle and be comfortable driving in all seasons and on rural gravel roads. The candidate must be willing to clean with natural products. Duties and Responsibilities Nanny: • Provide diligent, positive, kind, playful care of two children (1 and 5 years of age); • Provide creative and positive play experiences with the children inside and outside each day; • Provide care with minimal or no TV/iPad/Computer time; • Assist with homework, promote learning of new skills; • Organize and manage toys and play areas throughout the day; • Speak clearly and calmly when interacting with children; • Prepare healthy snacks and meals for the children; • Comfortable working with parent(s) working at home and out of the house; • Comfortable dropping off and picking up children at classes and/or school when needed; Housekeeping/Maintenance: • Provide high quality housekeeping and personal service in a professional, courteous, and accommodating manner to the Client and their family; • Conduct all housekeeping duties including cleaning floors, windows, light fixtures, toys, bathrooms, kitchen, fridges and freezers, bedrooms and all living spaces, dusting, bed making, laundry, polishing silverware, ironing and steaming of many different fabrics, and all other cleaning duties as assigned; • Tidying and organizing of rooms, closets, and storage spaces; • Wash dishes, load and unload the dishwasher and put dishes away; • Ensuring garbage, recycling, and compost is taken out; • Seasonal deep clean and special household projects; • Maintain cleanliness of the garage and outdoor spaces; • Maintain standard of household cleanliness, as communicated by the Client; • Coordinate and oversee repairs as needed; • Maintain all household furnishings and perform basic maintenance; such as: changing light bulbs, sewing repairs, shoe polishing, cleaning and maintenance of fireplaces and vehicles; • Purchase and maintain cleaning supply levels; • Water and maintain indoor and outdoor potted plants; Meal Preparation and Social Events: • Prepare meals and healthy snacks; • Assist with weekly shopping, errands, and groceries as required; • Assist with the planning, preparation, and hosting of private social events; Other Duties: • Run errands as required; • Provide pet care services as required; and • Assist with other duties as required. Qualifications and Requirements • Maintain and understand Client confidentiality and privacy; • Previous child care experience and early childhood education would be an asset; • First Aid and/or CPR training would be an asset; • Second language would be an asset; • Provide own transportation, valid driver’s license and a clean driving record; • Ability to climb stairs, bend, and lift 40+ pounds repetitively for eight hours a day; • Ability to climb a ladder and dust or clean hard to reach areas and chandeliers; • Proficient in domestic housekeeping, including ironing and maintenance of fine furnishings, fabrics, and appliances; • Pet care experience would be an asset; and • Successful completion of a background check.
