We are a family in southwest Edmonton looking for a full-time, experienced, live-out nanny to care for our three children (boys ages 8 and 4, girl age 2). Both parents are professionals and we require care weekdays typically 7:00am-5:00pm, no evenings or weekends. We are a non-smoking home with no pets.
We are seeking a compassionate, fun-loving caregiver with great communication skills. The ideal candidate will provide reliable, nurturing and trustworthy help with childcare and household tasks including cooking and light housekeeping.
Duties include:
- Supervise and care for children
- Play with children - appropriate creative, educational and outdoor activities
- Walk children to nearby playground, library, rec centre and preschool for outings
- Help with self care and hygiene
- dress children, change diapers and assist with toilet training
- Prepare and serve nutritious meals and snacks to children
- Place the youngest child down for afternoon naps
- Discipline children according to the methods requested by the parents
- Keep records of daily activities and health information regarding children
- Help with housework including washing bathrooms/kitchen, tidying home, and children's laundry
- Assist in preparing dinner for family (chop vegetables, etc)
Qualifications:
- 2-5 years of relevant work experience with children 1-5 years of age
- Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently
- First Aid certificate and CPR certificate required
- Recent (within 1 month) criminal record check with vulnerable sector check is mandatory (we are willing to reimburse the cost to the successful candidate)
- Must be able to take public transportation or own reliable transportation
- Must be able to prepare meals from scratch
- Knowledge of French language is preferred but not required
Work setting and conditions:
- Employer’s home
- Physically demanding, must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
- Physical ability to care for young children, including participation in outdoor play
- Occasional extra time until 5:30-6pm
