**This position has been filled. Thank you for your interest.** We are seeking a part-time nanny for 8-hour days on Tuesdays and Thursdays, starting in Sep. 2017. We live in Steveston Village. We are looking for a nanny who has her own means to get to our home. Driving our child is not a requirement of this position. Our parenting style is attached, gentle and involved, so we seek a good fit with a nanny who has a like-minded approach to our girl. We are Jesus-loving people, and would feel most comfortable with a nanny who shares our values (although this is not a pre-requisite). We are seeking a nanny who has behaviour interventionist experience with volatile, bright children. Our daughter requires someone with a gentle hand and firm boundaries who is able to diffuse an emotional situation using non-violent strategies while maintaining her own emotions in check. The ability to remain calm is crucial to helping regulate my daughter's emotional states. Our expectations for a nanny: - speak and write English as a first language, or with great proficiency - actively play with (vs. "supervise") our little girl - create learning opportunities and approach learning from a "play-based" perspective - have impeccable communication skills and a great imagination - promote an active lifestyle by going to outdoors daily - prepare a healthy lunch for our girl - do our daughter's laundry as needed - perform light household tasks (tidying up, loading/unloading dishwasher, clearing the, sweeping or vacuuming) and run occasional errands - abstain from use of technology (smartphones, social media) during work hours, except to keep us informed about our kiddo - respect our privacy by not posting images or information about our child online without permission - take initiative to anticipate what needs to be done, and complete tasks without having to be asked We are optimistic that we will find a great fit in time for the fall. However, we most value the importance of finding a good fit, since we consider our nanny to be an extended part of our family. There is a huge amount of autonomy involved in this position, so we would like to have someone who we can trust implicitly and whose judgement and personal lifestyle reflect wisdom and prudence, integrity and gentleness. Compensation is absolutely negotiable, depending on experience.
