Live In Caregiver for Elderly Parents - Edmonton, AB, Century Park Area

RB
Active:

Hello, My wife and I are moving my elderly parents from a small town to Edmonton, since they need some monitoring and assistance. My father (a former doctor) has mid-stage Parkinson's disease and requires help getting into and out of bed, washing up, and doing things that require fine motor skills. He can feed himself and get around the house with a walker. My mother's needs should be met by homecare visits during the day. We are looking for a live-in caretaker to help my dad get up in the morning and ready for bed at night. Some lifting would be required (though Dad probably only weighs about 100 pounds). Light housekeeping, laundry, and ensuring that both parents eat adequately. Ensuring prescribed medications are taken on time. Occasional transport to medical appointments. Being on call over night in case of emergency. We are anticipating 3-4 active hours during weekdays and hopefully 1 active hour on weekends (we will arrange relief as needed). I expect overnight to be emergencies only. We are flexible on what holiday days you want to take and how to structure the position (especially in how to create reasonable time off for you). A family member is available during evenings, and weekends for assistance. There is a small-medium sized dog in the house and one parent smokes.
