Hello! We are a down to earth, fun (and funny) family of four. Our strengths are our empathy, sense of humor and an inclusive disposition. I work as a counselor/therapist, most recently working with grieving teens and children. My husband works as a executive and scientist for a Vancouver based bio-tech company. Both of us work 5 days a week. The youngest member of our family (besides the dog :) is our daughter who is 5 years old and in full day kindergarten. She is full of energy, passion, is strong willed and very loving and affectionate. Our son, the oldest child, is 7 years old and is a very funny and intelligent kid excelling beyond his grade level at most subjects. He is very easy going and sociable. Both kids are involved in various extra curricular activities. When we aren't working, we like to go on little adventures as a family. We will go into town, shop and browse the book store, go to a park, or just get outside in the fresh air. My husband does a lot of tinkering around the house on the weekends and tries to get our son to help. I must admit both kids love to play on the computer and watch TV. Ideally we prefer both kids get outside a bit more and get involved in crafts or activities of some sort. I like to cook (usually on Sunday's) and will involve either of my children as much as they are willing. You will find that we are a very generous, understanding and appreciative family. Being a homemaker/nanny is a bit like being a 2nd mom and can be the hardest job in the world. Your contribution to our family is so important and our intention is that you will always know how much you are valued and the significant difference you make in our lives. We are looking for someone who knows how to run a household. As both of us work full time outside of the home, we would like someone who can provide loving care to our children after school, help them with homework and drive them to their extra curricular activities. The job will entail preparation of meals, grocery shopping, laundry and housekeeping. Someone who is self-directed, organized, knows their own boundaries (only say's "yes" if they mean it!) and has strong communication skills - these are very important qualities for us. We appreciate someone who can be honest, loyal and empathetic. Because our home is in a rural setting, a driver's license is absolutely necessary. In return for your hard work, you will find that we truly support your life goals and self development. We will provide a home where you feel wanted and included as a member of our family. You will have your own private living space but are welcome to enjoy all that our home has to offer (acreage, swimming pool, hot tub). Your suite has a balcony, kitchen, livingroom, bathroom and bedroom and would be included for free as part of your employment with us. We hope that you will stay with us for 2 years or more as the transition to a new nanny can be difficult both for practical reasons and emotional reasons.
