I am a young healthy senior with a passion for living life to the fullest. I have experienced many losses in my life and that has led me to this current path of working with elders, supporting them to maintain their independence as much as possible. I am a Buddhist and meditation practitioner, am non-judgmental and capable of supporting folks wherever they are in their journey. My clients and friends say they particularly like my calm nature and my respect of everyone's right to self-determination. I have good communication skills and judgement. I am capable of working appropriately with a team ( healthcare team, caregivers, POAs)

I have been working as a paid Care Companion since early 2021. Most of my work is assisting elderly adults to remain independent: arranging home maintenance, ensuring space is safe and accessible, accompanying elder shopping or to appointments including record-keeping and advocacy, companionship in general and related to legacy projects, issues of mortality. I often describe myself as a "concierge" as I see my role is to identify my clients' needs and ensure they are met (ie by myself and others, as appropriate). Prior to 2021, my related experience includes: working as a care aide in a retirement home when I was a young adult; 2 summer work terms working for Fairfield Homecare Agency; providing care and support for many loved ones with terminal illness, dementia, post-op or just elderly that lacked other caring support.
