My mother Dianne is 67-years-old, and suffers with early onset Alzheimer's. She lives full-time in a care home in the West Island of Montreal. We are looking for a personal trainer or Gym buddy who could accompany Dianne to a local gym 4-5 times per week. We can be very flexible with schedule, but would ideally like someone who can work Saturdays and Sundays. We are ready to pay a very competitive salary for the right fit/match with Dianne! Our goal is to keep her happy and active. Our ideal candidate will be someone who is physically active themselves, and preferably has a personal training certification (preferred, but not required). Our ideal candidate must also be someone who is kind and patient, and experience with dementia patients is preferred (although not required). JOB DESCRIPTION: Pick-up Dianne 4-5 times per week, accompany her during workouts by helping her with the machines and weights. Drive her home when workout is done. (2-3 hour shifts) WHERE: Pierrefonds area SCHEDULE: Flexible - but would prefer Saturday-Wednesday PAY: Competitive pay, willing to negotiate for right candidate. Will reimburse gas receipts. ALS is neurological disorder that affects the nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord that control voluntary muscle movement and breathing. Due to his ALS, he is unable to walk or use his arms. He is fully cognitively aware, able to speak and carry on conversation. Daily tasks include: - Assist with all aspects of personal hygiene such as bathing, dental hygiene, skin care etc. - Feeding & light meal preparation (breakfast and lunch) - Assist with transfers incl. repositioning from bed to wheelchair and vice versa - Assist with toileting - Light housekeeping - Participate in maintaining his overall well being and safety - Assist with daily physio/conditioning exercises and massage - Companion services as needed (i.e. to appointments) Position details: - 16 hours a week, with possibility for increased hours. - Wednesdays 9:30- 5:30 Saturday & Sunday 9:30-1:30. - Paid by Cheque emploi at $19.20/h

The job will entail a weekly commitment of 20 to 30 hours, spreading the workload over Monday to Friday, including mornings, mid-days, and occasional evenings. Aside from overseeing medications and meals, the caregiver's duties will involve light housekeeping tasks like ensuring the bathroom is kept clean, vacuuming floors, and washing dishes. The role may also include running some basic errands, such as grocery shopping. Importantly, I want to enrich my parent's social life, so arranging visits, outings, and trips to stimulate engagement with neighbors, friends, and family is a desirable part of the job. The ideal candidate will need to have a valid driver's license and a car, as there will be times when escorting my parent to appointments or various social engagements is required. My parents live in Beaconsfield in a large 2 story home with a big backyard. My dad is 86 and has early stages of dementia. He needs help bathing and general toiletry support. My mom is 81 and currently takes care of him and the house. She will be having hip surgery in the next month or so and will require in home support to take care of him and her while she recovers. This job will likely continue even after she recovers as house chores and meals and taking care of my father are getting too much for her to handle. Position can start immediately or anytime before she goes for surgery (few weeks from now). They have a dog but if you don't like animals we can arrange for the dog to live elsewhere. We would prefer to have non smokers. My parent speak English and are super nice. House is beautiful and if you wanted to stay overnight there is a private bedroom and bathroom. Helping with housework and meals is also needed.
