Flexibility is required each month depending on the mother’s work schedule and ability to travel occasionally would be amazing. Candidates must be comfortable with hypoallergenic dog and managing one child unassisted. Start date is flexible since we are seeking the right candidate. The mother is a single mother by choice so if you are not comfortable with this family dynamic, this position is likely not a fit. I am also not willing to sponsor anyone outside of Canada or pay a relocation fee.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Diaper changes and potty training
• Ability to work unassisted for the time you are here
• Assisting with nap time
• Experienced with play-based learning and creating educational activities (e.g., planned engaging activities at home, developmentally appropriate games and activities, engaging projects and crafts, themed weeks, scheduled outings, etc.)
• Knowledgeable about child development (e.g., firm when necessary and capable of teaching children manners and etiquette, but also capable of being laid back and fun)
• Support teaching Montessori method and reinforcement of manners and other social skills
• Proactively create “pack lists” to ensure children have everything needed prior to travel, pack and unpack children for travel, research and plan activities at destination, and ensure appropriate gear is available at other residences, hotel, or resort
• Inventory checklists for children’s household items, food, essentials and clothes and order online when needed.
• Take my son to and from activities which requires a drivers license.
• Ability to coordinate/work with the grandparents as they are around alot
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Capable of building rapport with infants/ toddlers
• Experienced working with similar aged children
• Experienced working with at least two children in nanny position
• Ability to travel domestically (on occasion and optional)
• Highly organized, detail-oriented, proactive, excellent time management, efficient, and service focused
• Ability to be discreet with respect for employer’s privacy
• Professional presentation of self and great personality
• Positive attitude and ability to handle position with ease and calm demeanor
• Active, energetic, engaging, nurturing, and creative
• Proactive, resourceful, and take initiative to get things done
• Ability to multi-task
• Must be a citizen of Canada and not require accommodations
• Other childcare related duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS:
• Post Secondary Education, degree or diploma in related field
• Passionate about education, child development, and child psychology
• 1-5+ years of consistent and recent full-time nanny and/or early childhood education centre
• 2 past employer references and 1 character reference (not family)
• Seeking longevity / long term commitment
• Live a commutable proximity to the family's residence in Amherstburg
• Ability to swim and comfortable with water
• Ability to provide police clearance with vulnerable sector
• Driver's license and clean driving record
• Pediatric CPR Certification
• Vaccinations (e.g., COVID-19, MMR, TDap, Flu Shot) and ability to show proof
• Comfortable working with hypoallergenic dog
