I enjoy hiking, the water and travel with my spouse. Crafting with my nieces, exploring and continually learning. I’m kind, love taking care of people and enjoy a good conversation.

Hello, my name is Ms. Anabel. I live in Barrie. • I am a creative, compassionate and highly dependable nanny with over 16 years experience caring for children from newborn to 10 years old. • I was a responsible and reliable caregiver for an autistic child from when he was 12 - 24 years old. He is non-verbal, has global delay and needs supervision and guidance at all times. We still keep in touch and he’s always very happy to see me. • I’m passionate about providing a safe, fun and nurturing environment for children to learn, laugh and grow in. • I am proficient in communicating with children at different developmental stages and I understand cues and early language, including basic signs for milk and juice. • I am dedicated to helping shape children into confident, intelligent and happy people who will carry those traits into adulthood. • Of those children I still keep in touch with, the taller ones sometimes give me rocket hugs, almost knocking me over. Others just contact me and say, Ms. Anabel, when can we see you? One child gave me a gift after his first communion. A typical day • I organise fun educational activities using developmentally appropriate activities, I read books that increase children’s interest in story time, calendar, music and dance, crafts, baking, planned outdoor activities such as neighbourhood walks – on foot, using ride on toys, stroller and visits to the local park. Building snow people, snow forts, water toys, running through sprinklers, planting container flowers and more. • Applying sunscreen and ensuring your child is dressed appropriately for the weather. • Light housekeeping – snack preparation, sweeping and mopping kitchen floor, children’s washroom, kitchen and children’s play and work areas. Hugs: If and when your child needs a hug, I will give them one for as long as they like. Younger children may need more hugs and singing or humming. Diaper Changes and Potty Training: I’m self dubbed as the professional diaper changer. I apply the necessary skin protecting creams and will let you know if your child is developing a rash and may benefit from an oatmeal soak during bath time. I also assist with potty training. Parent communication: I will keep you updated on daily events and learning milestones. If there is anything you would like me to incorporate into our learning, please share it with me and I will do my best to include it. What we’ll need for a successful day: • I will provide the language your child needs that goes with the material you’ve supplied. To encourage language development, I use conversation as often as possible. This will provide your child with the necessary words to naturally encourage speaking. Puzzles are great for motor skills and language. o I can suggest age-appropriate activities for your child if you would like to incorporate them into your child’s play space. o Push toys are great for children who are learning to walk. o Less is always more when we refer to the number of toys available at any given time. • Please supply library books on a monthly rotation for story time. Children often like to hear their favourite stories over and again. • Please have a good supply of craft paper, glue, child safe scissors, washable markers, pencils, pencil crayons, sharpener, erasers, washable paints, crayons, sparkly things and anything to dress up a craft activity. • Please provide a calendar with moveable pieces so we can sing the days of the week, months of the year and discuss the weather. Availability I’m available 2 days per week (M-F) from about 8 a.m. to 2 or 3 p.m. If it sounds like we might be a good fit, please message me. I would love to tell you more about my experience and how I can be a benefit to your child and family. By working together, we can make sure your child gets the care and attention they need and deserve. Oftentimes, the children have so much fun, they don’t want me to leave.
