I started babysitting and cooking for my younger siblings (5-8 years old) at the age of 12 years old, as well as doing housekeeping chores. During my teenage years, I babysat my neighbours' children. I have taken care of children from newborns to 15-year-olds and worked with special needs. Shortly after my nephews and niece were born, I looked after them as their parents were busy. I had to sterilize their baby bottles and prepare milk formula, as well as bathe, change their diapers, soothe and feed them. When I volunteered with Vancouver Adaptive Snow Sports (VASS), I assisted in teaching disabled people to ski. I helped Special Olympics athletes prepare for their competitions and thus I am a very adaptive and accommodating person. I enjoy cooking, housekeeping, and looking after people. If needed, I plan age-appropriate activities in advance to keep kids engaged⁠. I always bring necessary items with me such as my own food and drinks. For me, safety is very important: I ensure the childcare space is safe and remove any potential hazards, and keep the parents' emergency contact information on hand⁠. To provide consistency for the children⁠, I follow the household's rules and routines as set out by the parents. ⁠I keep ongoing communication with the parents to share the children's activities and any incidents that may occur⁠. I am attentive and engaged by giving the children my full attention⁠ ⁠I manage any behaviour using positive reinforcement, redirecting any negative behaviour in a calm and patient manner⁠. ⁠As I move from one activity to the next, I maintain cleanliness and hygiene. I clean up any messes the children and I make.
