Temi has asked me to provide a generic reference or letter of recommendation for other parents who may be considering employing her as a nanny. I understand that she is currently looking for a position overseas – I assume as a live-in nanny. Temi worked for us as an after-school nanny in the period September 2020 to October 2021. I cannot be sure of the dates, because the situation with the Covid pandemic meant that there were periods where after-school care was frustrated. Please don’t read anything into any discrepancy on the dates that Temi may have provided. Temi looked after our 3 children, who were aged 3-4, 6-7 and 8-9 at the time after school/nursery 3 days a week, and also looked after them in school holidays and sometimes in the evening. We have continued to use her for occasional babysitting since she left. For a while, she also looked after a fourth child (aged 3-4) 2 days a week. Temi was, and is, warm, caring and thoughtful with the children. She is good at explaining things to them, negotiating with them and engaging with them. However, she is firm when she needs to be and I was impressed that she never appeared to be overwhelmed by them or by their behaviour. One of my children does struggle with his behaviour, and can be easily enraged and overwhelmed, and she dealt with this calmly and appropriately – checking with me when she needed to. Temi left our employ because she needed to work more hours than we could offer her. She worked her notice out as we had agreed, and she left on good terms with us and with the children.
