Hello! My name is Samantha, although I prefer Sammy or Sam. I was born and raised in Calgary, Alberta alongside my two older sisters and a younger brother. Like many teenagers, I started babysitting for family, friends, and various families in the neighbourhood to earn some extra cash. During the COVID-19 pandemic, when schools were shut down and parents had to work, I found myself searching for more babysitting jobs to keep busy. This eventually led me to consider childcare as a potential career route.
After high school, I attended the University of Lethbridge to pursue a degree in Arts Education, with an aim to turn my love for children into a teaching profession. However, during my second practicum, I quickly discovered that my passion for children was not necessarily in teaching but in playing and exploring. After three years of studying in Lethbridge, I moved back to Calgary and enrolled in Bow Valley College, where I am currently pursuing a diploma in Child and Youth Care Development, aspiring to open my own daycare in the near future.
In my spare time, I've been coaching basketball, training children aged 5-17. I am currently coaching a high school girls team, and in the spring, I'll be coaching a Grade 5-6 team. This semester, my workload is quite light, leaving me with ample availability during the week. I can cook, clean, drive, grocery shop, and whatever else is needed to lessen the stress of your home life. Call me crazy, but doing laundry is my therapy! I'm looking forward to meeting you and your family! :)
