-Compiled tailored curricula for my two children from elementary to high school level. For the elementary grades, the focus was on the core subjects such as English (including reading, phonics, writing, penmanship, grammar), Math, Science, Geography/History, Music/Art and Physical Education. Taking a relaxed, patient approach that included lots of review allowed for concepts to be retained before progressing. Physical materials and a hands-on approach was utilized for the early grades, while later that progressed to a more independent, self-reliant approach to further develop their critical thinking skills and confidence. Through time, moving towards the high school level, their abilities developed and language skills strengthened to allow for greater independent study while still having as much support as needed. Subjects such as English, Math, Science (with specific focus on either biology, chemistry or astronomy), Geography/History, Music/Art, Typing skills, and Computers were further studied while the use of online materials were introduced. -Taught different grades simultaneously and offered assistance as required. -Reviewed and graded assigned projects and completed work. -Managed daily schedule in order to complete tasks in timely manner and implemented creative ways to maintain interest levels with field trips (such as museums) or different methods of learning. -To ensure they had adequate balance, we also enrolled in activities such as swimming lessons, gymnastics, and cooking classes. They both also volunteered at Little Ray's Reptile where they got to interact with their peers, develop responsibility and learn more about various animals.
