Hi! My name is Emily, it is nice to "meet" you. I am 22 years old and just graduated from McGill in December. For my whole life, I have gone to summer camp and worked at summer camps. I have been a councillor for children at overnight camps for six years! Before that, I was a day camp councillor for 3 years. I have taught windsurfing, swimming and ceramics to kids. I loved every minute of it and learned so much about children along the way; how to connect with them and entertain them, how to anticipate danger and proactively protect them, how to teach them good communication skills and how to show them respect as individuals. I think kids have so much to say and can be so much fun to engage with, through the right supervision. Planning fun activities to do, that are unique to the interests and personality of a child, is one of the most rewarding parts of babysitting. A little bit about me. I love being outside, and hanging out with friends and I am a huge foodie! I love cooking and baking, and trying out new recipes. When my friends come over, they always ask me if I have made anything they can try. At McGill, I studied English, Film, and International Development. I love reading, watching movies, and playing guitar in my spare time. One of my passions is travelling. I have gone on exchanges in Australia, Switzerland, and Spain. My goal is to save up money so I can keep exploring more countries. My friends would describe me as someone who can chat with just about anyone, about just about anything. I am creative, enthusiastic, and a great listener. My qualifications: English (fluent), French (conversational), great cook, can help with reading and writing, Standard and Emergency First Aid, NLS, G class driver's licence. Overnight camp councillor for five years. Responsible for ten campers and their safety for two-month periods at a time. Also guided canoe trips and had to ensure the safety, nourishment, and enjoyment of children ranging from a 7-16. I have been a windsurfing instructor, swimming instructor, life guard and ceramics instructor at overnight camps for children aged 2-16, boys and girls. I have also worked at day camps including baseball camp and general sports and craft camps, including individualized camps in the home. I have my first aid certifications.
